Building Purpose & Passion – Welcoming Georgia and Toni as the Women’s Society’s New Co-Chairs

The Lois Hole Hospital Women’s Society is proud to welcome two inspiring leaders, Toni Hueston and Georgia Miller, as Co-Chairs for the next two-year term. With a shared spirit of generosity, creativity, and belief in the power of women supporting women, Toni and Georgia bring both fresh vision and commitment to a cause that lies close to their hearts: women’s health, built on passion and purpose.
Toni Hueston: A Founding Member with Drive
Toni has been a driving force behind the Women’s Society since its inception eight years ago. As a retired teacher who once worked one-on-one with students with complex needs, her heart has always been rooted in service. Today, she brings that same compassion to the hospital through her entrepreneurial endeavor, SHEque—a jewelry line she created to raise funds in support of women’s health.
Toni spearheaded the now-annual Hockey Loves Moms campaign in partnership with the Canadian Athletic Club—a bold and brilliant move to bring a male-dominated area into the conversation around women’s health. Through community-driven charity games and creative gestures like team roses, this campaign raised over $13,000 in its first month and continues to grow.
Now, as Co-Chair, she is committed to building a stronger, more unified community. Her vision includes launching a steering committee to harness the unique strengths of each member and promote greater collaboration across initiatives.
Georgia Miller: A Creative with a Heart for Connection
Georgia joined the Women’s Society two years ago, and her impact has been profound. A Grade Two teacher in Edmonton’s inner city, Georgia is also the author and illustrator of three children’s books—infusing art, empathy, and imagination into everything she does. Inspired by her art studies in Italy and public speaking seminars at Harvard University, Georgia brings a globally minded, heart-led approach to everything she does.
After facing personal health challenges following the birth of her daughter, Georgia found purpose in storytelling—and a fellow Society member’s encouragement sparked her journey into publishing. She believes that any room she walks into has something to teach her, and as Co-Chair, she wants every member to feel that their strengths have a place and their voice matters.
Georgia volunteers weekly with the Tea for Two Antepartum Recreation Program at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women, crafting with moms facing long-term, high-risk pregnancies. Many of these women are far from family and in need of comfort and connection. Georgia has heard firsthand how powerful this program is and is working to expand it—bringing more volunteers to a space that reminds women they’re not alone.
A Vision for the Future: Youth, Inclusion, and Inspired Action
Together, Toni and Georgia are energized by the future of the Women’s Society. They believe that you don’t need deep pockets to make a real difference—you need heart. Whether through talent, advocacy, or time, every act of giving matters.
They are especially passionate about mentoring young women through the Women’s Society Youth Committee, engaging women aged 17 to 27 to build leadership skills and amplify their voices. They also see great wisdom in looking to elders in the community, honouring their lived experience, and integrating their guidance into the Youth Committee’s next chapter.
Under their leadership, the Society will focus on doubling its membership, expanding its reach, and creating deeper, more meaningful engagement. With a culture rooted in connection and inclusion, Toni and Georgia aim to build a community that is a conduit for the mission of the Lois Hole Hospital for Women.
A Heartfelt Thank You
As they step into their new roles, Toni and Georgia extend deep gratitude to the outgoing Co-Chairs, Vanessa Lancaster and Rhiannon Adams, for paving the way. Their leadership was thoughtful, vibrant, and impactful—and it leaves behind a legacy of possibility and inspiration.
Together, with bold ideas and compassionate hearts, Toni and Georgia will lead the Women’s Society into a new era—one that ensures every woman, at every stage of life, receives the care and support she deserves.
Join us in celebrating these remarkable women and the bright future they are helping build—for the hospital, community, and the generations of women to come.
